Long Creek - Charles V. McMillin, 85, of Long Creek, passed away at 11:45 p.m., August 8, 2011 in Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Zion.
A celebration of Charles' life will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek with full military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and U.S. Army Honors Team. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Activities Department at Heritage Manor. Charles was born April 14, 1926 in Franklin, KY the son of Charles and Arminta (Stewart) McMillin. He married Alma Jean Roberts on July 20, 1947. She preceded him in death on September 15, 1999. Charles was a skilled carpenter and homebuilder and owned McMillin Home Builders.
He served in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed fishing.
Surviving is his children: David McMillin and his wife Debbie of Virginia Beach, VA, Gary McMillin and his wife Susan of Elwin, Robert McMillin and his wife Joan of Troy, IL, Mark McMillin and his wife Karey of Lawton, OK, Janie Breeze of Decatur, and John McMillin and his wife Tami of Decatur; grandchildren: Cara, Dennis, Richard, Shawn, Chris, Nathan, Jordan, Annie, Doug, Tim, Katie, Michael and Matthew; great-grandchildren: Jakob, Josh, Grant, Sam, Zach, Brie, Jordon, Carley, Caitlyn, Cameryn, Cayli, Jeremiah, and Eric.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one son, one brother, one sister and his son-in-law.
